DD where is the parking brake wire/switch?

I installed my double din the other day but didnt attach the parking brake wire to use the DVD because i dont know where i need to attach it to.

To those of you who have not bypassed the parking brake to watch DVD/NAV where did you connect the light green headunit parking wire to the vehicle???

Ooh, know this one!

If you stick your head down in the pedal-box area and examine the parking brake, you'll see that a plunger is actuated when the parking brake is engaged / disengaged. Obviously this is a switch, and a wire can be seen coming off of it. I used a splice connector to hook up the light green parking brake wire. You may find it necessary to partially drop the plastic shroud under the steering wheel to get a better view.

And then later I bought a bypass off Amazon anyway (lolz) so my boy can watch Star Wars or whatever when we drive around. FYI, remove the light green wire from the brake if using the bypass.

Why would you want to hook it to the brake? Do you not want to be able to watch movies while driving? Seems like extra work when all you really have to do is not hit play...just attach it to the ground wire lol

This method of bypassing doesn't work on modern radios, and whether it's for your kids or not, any video (that isn't vehicle information or route guidance) playing that's ahead of the driver is against the law in many states.

The only real reason I see for the bypass is so that your passenger can input destinations into the GPS unit.

It worked on my kenwood and I've never watched anything while driving other than to see if it would work. I just don't see the point in going to the trouble to hook it to the brake. Why not just not put a DVD in it while driving seems easier to me but that's just my 2 cents. My radio is only a year old but I guess that's old fashion now haha but then again I know you're an audio/video guru so I'm sure you're right I just know it worked for me

thanks everyone for your input. I doesnt bother me attach it correctly instead od bypassing it. I usually never have anyone in the passenger seat to watch movies and also i do NOT have a GPS lol. I have heard the grounding method, however, i have the brand new pioneer avh-x1500dvd so that will not work.

is the wire purple/red????

It is as one of the replies says, above the automatic G's emergency brake in one of the wire bundles. Purple with a red stripe.
