it is also the way zack and i first discussed doing it. however, we realize that most people don't have the resources to make a mold for a one-off job so I'm glad he's taken the time to do it for everyone's benefit

anyway, thanks for the props, but i have to be honest that i was disappointed by the tone of your first post.

I wouldn't say that you need a ton of skillz to do this, I had never done anything like this before and mine came out pretty good. Just take get a spare grill and take your time, you can do it.

Update: To those using foamcore to make the molds, if you leave them on too long the moisture in the bondo can make it hard to take the molds off. this is because the foamcore has a paper coating which is pourous and will stick to the bondo when wet.

to minimize this problem, you can put a strip(s) of wide plastic tape on the side of the foamcore that will be in contact with the bondo. this will act as a 'release' which will make it a bit easier to take off the molds. avoid putting creases in the tape, however, since this will show up on the surface of the patch.

whether you decide to use the strips of plastic tape, you should remove the molds as soon as the bondo is hard enough to support itself.

marcus used a silver spray paint (duplicolor i think) and i used killer chrome. we both used a few coats of duplicolor sandable primer and duplicolor black basecoats.
