Help with DIY Brake Line replacement

So I decided to DIY my brake replacement on my 05 G35 Sedan. Got new rotors, pads, and SS brake lines. My question is, will I need a special wrench to remove/install the brake lines? If so, do you know the correct size?

Thanks

Technically yes. You should be using a brake line wrench. BUT, I've used a small vise grip type wrench with good success. It had a special notch that just happened to grip the brake line bolt perfect. But normal vice grips will work. I sometimes use these as it's better than using a normal open end (if you don't have a special brake line wrench. although they are cheap). The open end just strips the bolt.

If you don't have a vice grip and have to buy a tool, then go ahead and just buy the brake line wrench from Sears. I believe it's a 12mm or a 10mm.

Thanks for the reply. the guy at Autozone had no idea for our cars. So I thought I would ask here. A set of 3 wrenches, which covered 6 different sizes, was only $10. So no big deal to get a set.

The SS lines are easy to put on also. It takes longer to bleed the lines. Chime in after you're done and let me know how you like them. I put on the SS lines also but I upgraded my calipers/rotors at the same time. hard to judge what teh SS lines alone did.

Thanks again. I went with Powerslot rotors and HPS pads. Looking forward to getting them on.

I'll be installing a set of SS lines on my G pretty soon, I'll make a DIY vid when I put the new lines on. You should be using a crow's foot wrench, like the kind shown in the service manual, otherwise you might risk stripping the brake line nuts.

Don't you mean an flare end wrench.

That's another name for it. FSM calls it "crow's foot."

Funny you should ask. Erwin (erdog) and I just got done changing his oil and installing a magnefine AT filter and we filmed the filter install so that's coming up. Next we're filming a rear camber kit install (spc brand) and then I'll be filming a clutch fluid flush and an SS brake line install.

I'll try to get the vids posted asap.
