Did the car seem sluggish due to the increase in unsprung weight?

to be perfectly honest....no, not at all. I was really thinking there would be a noticable difference but there really isn't.

Excellent write up. This will be useful once I get my hands on these brakes.

who tagged "cai and injen"

Anyway, about the brackets.....still trying to see if it's worth paying the sponsorship fees for this. They might be too expensive for some people.

Fantastic write-up. Still working out well? Is it a night-and-day difference from OEM in stopping power? The OE fronts are 2-piston?

I'm buying a complete Akebono setup today, this really helps! (wondering if I should powdercoat the calipers....)

When you installed it, did you put the bolt through the moon shape spacer? And where did it tight to? I couldn't figure out.

Great job and great write up twin001. Also excellent diagnosis on the up/down bleeder screw issue.

The moon shape spacer attaches to the top OEM location IIRC (pics are blocked right now). Don't torque it down until you align it properly with the new caliper in place.

Onto the performance side of things. These brakes feel wonderful when driving on the street. Stock OEM pads have a good bite and dust is minimal. Stopping power is improved IMO, but I don't have numbers to back it up. Now, for track use....these pads WILL NOT LAST!!! I decided to burn through these pads before I buy some more B-Force pads and boy did I ever burn through them. The front pads pretty much dissentigrated on the track. I don't know if the slotted rotors may have been too harsh on them or if they just simply weren't up for the task, but I had piles....YES PILES...of brake dust/residue on the bottom of my wheels after each session. They worked fine for about 8 minutes of hard driving, then they started to fade. Again, for street use these are great, just swap before you go to the track. I didn't swap because I just wanted to see how well they held up.

^^^ thanks for that review... I sure hope itís just the pads that caused fade...

I've heard Hawk HPS donít fade, but they did on my car with OEM calipers and drilled/slotted rotors (upgraded hi temp fluid and stainless lines)... I figured much of it was the small rotors with little surface area, certainly/hopefully these Akebonos will help that.

I've got a question....I just did this install on my G (only difference I used drilled/slotted rotors on the front from brakeperformance), and I am getting A LOT of road noise from the front. I don't feel any vibration, just a lot of noise when I hit about 40mph+. Any thoughts? Brakeperformance uses OEM rotors and then they machine them, could they be warped somehow? But if they were warped, wouldn't they vibrate?

Parking brake also isnt holding, but I am going to have to do the DIY adjustment for that I believe.

My parking brake needs adjusted too, I've just been too lazy to do it. Also, I did notice a little more noise but I thought maybe it was the tires. But now that you notice the noise it could be the brakes.
