any opinion with KYB GR2 shocks

I have a 05 coupe with oem suspension. I want to replace my shocks. Has anyone used KYB GR2 shocks? I found all 4 for $260 but ive never used KYB's before.

KYB is one of the world's largest manufacturers of shock absorbers and struts. I have them along with Eibach's pro-kit springs. I have had no problems at all going on roughly 15k. All was installed together new. They are replacements for the sport tuned suspension and she handles and rides fantastic. For the price you cant beat it.

By the way Excel-G is the new GR2...

How do you know if you have a sport tuned suspension or not?

Call your local Infiniti dealership and supply them with your vin #. They will be able to tell you. I'm don't know your options. I do know if it came with oem 19's it had it. Also with the 6MT I believe.

5AT's did not come with the Sport-Tuned Suspension. You have the standard suspension, which is the same as the '03-04 6MT and 5AT coupes as well. See the sticky on shocks/swaybars/struts at the top of this board.

Umm, if we are talking about sedans, then '03-'04 5AT's had the extra cost OPTION of sport tuned suspension (immediately identifiable by 5 spoke 17" alloys and the red shocks) so he very well could have that option (somewhat rare on AT's), but all the 6 MT's came standard with sport suspension in '03-'04, which is NOT the same as the standard suspension on AT's at all.

And all the '03-'04 6 MT's also came standard with VLSD (Viscous Limited Slip Differential) too - not available on AT cars at all those years.

Just to clarify.

Just to clarify, will the KYB shocks the op is asking about only work if you have sport tuned suspension? I was also considering them, but mine does not have sport tuned suspension.

I had KYB shocks on my last Z, installed them at 60K miles. My OE shocks were shot and the KYBs made it handle like a new car. They're a good basic shock and the best shock for the $$.

I just replaced my 04 Sedan Sport shocks/struts at 96K with KYB GR-2s (see threads here and here).

Matched to the 04 Coupe Sport springs (revised) that I installed at the same time, the car handles much better (tradeoff is a bit stiffer ride) and even looks a little better with a .5 drop all around (easily aligns inside of factory specs as well).

Note that my previous struts/shocks were not leaking and checked out ok, but had obviously lost alot of their capabilities over the years.

I did alot of research prior and agree with Gary that these are one of the better values for our cars.

Also note that KYB OEMs the shocks/struts for several other Infiniti models, so they are no stranger to the FM platform.

will the 350z version of these shocks fit a g35 coupe?

will it wear out the shocks faster if paired them with 350z h-techs?

hey guys -- trying to bring this back to life --- i'm planning to get the kyb shocks and struts --- I have an 05 coupe with original spoiler (can I assume this is sports package?) --

the car has 155k on it -- should I change the springs? if so, how do I know if I need a sports spring or a regular spring. *thanks
