P1754 Help 04 G35 Coupe A/T

I'm having some small issues (hopefully) with my transmission.

On some occasions it seems to get stuck in 3rd gear. When I shut the car off, and restart it, the problem goes away.

Check engine light comes on with Code P1754

I've read the Service Bulletin ITB10-006a and wondering what they mean by "Replace Control-Valve Assembly" ?

Also, if anyone else knows more information about this code, that would be greatly appreciated.

Dealership said that they visually checked the TCU and it seems ok. But I'm sure it was a quick look...

Thanks!

Basically it refers to replacing the TCM and valve body. The TCM and Valve body make up the "Control Valve Assembly". The TCM is internal on the 2004 G35 and is mounted directly to valve body. P1754 in service manual refers to input clutch solenoid problem which may be due to:

1. Harness or Connector problem.
2. Input Clutch Solenoid.
2. ATF Pressure Switch 3

Thanks for the quick reply...

Is there a way to know if it's 1,2 or 3 above specifically? and if I do need to replace the "Control Valve Assembly" Is it worth it? or should I be looking for a new transmission at this point?

The only way to tell requires further troubleshooting. You can purchase a service manual on DVD which will provide the guidance to eliminate possibilities.

To replace Control Valve Assembly would be costly and if swapped from another transmission it would need to be re programmed by dealer to work with ECM.

If I was to guess the Input Clutch Solenoid would be first choice.

I have a copy of the service manual in PDF... Pages 181-184 in the AT section called: DTC P1754 Input Clutch Solenoid Valve Function.

But I can't really do any of that stuff myself as I don't have Consult II...

Guess I'm going to have to bring it in.

I have same issue with my 2005 G35. sedan..... PRIIIIIICETY REPAIRS. PARTS ARE REDICULOUS. Almost $1000 just for the TVB, solenoids aren't sold separately and labor is also about 500-700$

I hear you... Last 6months:

- New Valve Covers
- New Spark Plugs
- New Transmission (Which now has P1754 code) Dealership switching it for a new one free next week.
- New Muffler/Exhaust Pipes
- New Brakes/Rotors
- New MAF
- Gas tank/guage repair (TSB on not able to fill)

To add insult to injury, my fuel economy is down to 20L/100kms city!

So I'm just shy of $8k in repairs.

TCM is only integrated inside the transmission in 2004.5+ models. 2003-2004 have the TCM under the passenger kick panel.

I have a spare VB for a 2003-2004 if anybody needs it..

Would replacing the vb fix direct clutch solenoid issues? Error code p1764 and P1730 which is the fail safe from what I understand. I just purchased my first infiniti less than 1000 miles ago and needless to say I am less than impressed with the workmanship and will be forced to throw in the towel if this is a costly repair. I have already replaced struts, drive belt and other minor parts...

Not sure for those error codes...

I had recently replaced my transmission in January this year (At the time it wasn't even switching out of first, and needed to be placed in neutral to start the car). This is the one that was "Nissan Remanufactured" that is showing P1754 and getting randomly stuck in 3rd.

I'm replacing it again on Monday (this time it's under warranty)...

Hopefully that solves it for a while.

The 7 year old mark on these cars is very rough!! But still a great car when you compare the others and the price point.

Unfortunately for you, your G is an exception to the rule. In general, these cars are very reliable. Mine is closing in on 9 years old and all I've had to replace is shocks, brakes, belts, a couple bulbs, tires, plugs, various fluids, and the A/C clutch pulley (warranty). My car is even drag raced and auto-xd too.

Maybe, could be the Canadian winters...

But I wish I was in your boat. And I baby my car. Washes every 2 weeks to remove salt in the winter, oil changes every 4k. Followed the maintenance schedule to a T.

I also didn't add the fact that Infiniti paint sucks!! (At least the 04's). I've repainted my front bumper twice since I got the car in 04 and it needs to be done again. Paint chips off just looking at it!...

Don't get me wrong, I love my car... But all these little things drive me crazy.

Does anyone know if the Direct clutch Solenoid is located in the Valve body? And would it be worth it to try replacing the DC solenoid or the entire Valve body before I go and spend BIG money on a tranny ?

I loved the car for the past two weeks I have had it, and now I hate it . Now im just hitting myself on the head asking myself why I bought this piece! Looks like Im taking it into the dealer for a new tranny just because some little solenoid took a sh*t ! Anyone interested in buying a 2003 sedan? lol
