Yes, there are ALOT of threads and posts on the German Castrol 0w30 at .

German Castrol 0w30 is thicker than many of the thinner 10w40 oil.

Look at the viscosities on the product data sheets (PDS).

Edge is 9.8 cSt at 100 degrees C (a very low 30W), while GC is about 12.1 (almost a 40W).

Edge is 54 cSt at 40C, and GC is thicker than that at around 67, but they do measure viscosity of a 5W at -30C and a 0W at -35C, so the numbers aren't directly comparable.

Here's the

This is for the USA version. The German version is about the same in overall specs, but many people at BITOG think GC has superior performance.

GC 0w-30 is a very good oil for our VQ's. M1 0w-40 isnt so bad either. They both have very good wear numbers.

I like this UOA source being it's only on our VQ's like here:

BITOG is...ok. Good for VOA's, but not many VQ's UOA's in there so I can compare apples to apples.

Should add GC 0W30 to the list on the front page.

Anybody brave enough to try Valvoline's new 'recycled' oil?

I guess I shouldn't call it new...

Thought Valvoline doesn't run well with our engines anyways?

Modern Infiniti in Greensboro uses Valvoline. They put a blend in when they replaced my engine. Not to say it is good or bad.

I read some on that next gen Valvoline. Do you use tap water. Same principal, except you trust the filtered tap water in your living body. Should be just fine. They have been recycling oil for years. That is basically what 2 cycle oil is is filtered used oil. Personally I wouldn't touch the stuff. But then again I have a water filter that filters out everything including fluoride and chlorine on my house. If I am out I only drink water that is reverse osmosis.

Does anyone have experiences with Mobile 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40, or Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40?
im using castrol 0w30, and used mobile 0w40 before. They both gave me little under 30PSI oil pressure. DUnno if that's a good thing but i'm looking for engine oil that is thick enough to withstand heat from drifting-little thicker than castrol 0w30.
Not to mention that my engine eats castrol 0w30 little over time. i have 05 350z.

Is there a big difference between true synthetic and normal synthetic? I try to stick with mobile 0w40 or castrol 0w30 since they are true synthetic.

There's some new stuff out right now..

Mobile Super I think. Has anyone tried this yet?

Castrol also has this new stuff.. Edge Titanium formula. It's pretty pricey though.. $7 for a quart at Kragen..

For your true and normal synthetic question.. it totally depends on the brand and what you do to the car.

Like sometimes if you can't get Castrol 0W30.. You can use Castrol Syntec 5W30 and that'd do just fine for like 5k every change.

my oil change interval is around 3000 miles. Last time i went 4000 miles with mobile.
The reason i didn't go castrol "5w40" is because it's not true synthetic. i spent more and bought 0w30 when it wasn't on sale.. -_- also i don't know how thick castrol 5w40 REALLY is. it could be very thin 40 wegith or thick 40
I autocross often. Getting ready to start drriifftting.

Why mobile turbo diesel and mobile 1 high mileage?

Maybe stick to full synthetic then to be on the safe side lol, but still. there have been alot of tests on 5W30 Castrol Syntec and they seem to have some pretty nice results.

Went to get some Castrol Syntec and say this notice.

"CASTROL SYNTEC IS NOW CASTROL EDGE WITH SYNTEC POWER TECHNOLOGY"

All the stores no longer carry the old Castrol Syntec anymore around here. Anybody tried this new stuff?
