I attempted the installation today and I broke a 1/2" ratchet adapter which I've been using since 2005. Broke while I was attempting to take off the bolts from the rear coolant pipe that's bolted to the cylinder heads. I had already taken off the upper plenum and intake. I got started at 11AM and wasted about 4 hours for nothing. Didn't want to continue since I needed the car before 4PM.

I didn't want to put this off any longer so just now I bypassed the throttle body using coolant caps. I'll install the modified pipes later and it will be easier now.

hi guys
I just have one quick question? How hard was it to remove the coolant pipe on passenger side? I'm tempted to do this mod but it seems like it's time consuming.

Taking that front pipe out doesn't it put more pressure in the radiator? Where does the pressure go?

^ are you referring to the bypass hose that connects the passenger side hard pipe to the driver side hard pipe? if so, no need to worry about excess pressure. just like with a stock layout, when the coolant expands as it warms up, your radiator cap will allow coolant to flow into the overflow when it reaches the pressure rating of the cap.

with that being said, you need to make sure you bleed the air out of the system properly to prevent overheating.

A lot of work for questionable gain! Guess if you have free time on your hands and want to tinker...

Sorry to revive an old thread however I noticed a flaw in welding the drivers side flange, the hose that goes across the front feeds hot coolant to the Tstat so it can open at the correct temp.

I removed the one on my car and properly bled the system and monitored the temps and found that the thermostat opens a lot later.

This apparently is a common problem with VQ swaps, people delete these and engines overheat

how do you guys correct this issue after this mod?
