Re: Resetting the ECU

Every time I do the resetting the Service Engine Soon light kept flashing during the first drive until I turned off and started again. Anyone else?

Re: Resetting the ECU

the service engine light turned off after the reset for me. I followed the instructions then took the key out of the ignition before starting the car to drive for the first time after the reset. When you were doing the reset did the engine service light start to blink quickly after you held the pedal down for ten seconds the second ten second interval? Well those are my ideas. Could you feel a difference on the first test drive?
Good Luck

Re: Resetting the ECU

Excellent write-up and great to hear that it worked for you. It sounds like there are other parameters in the ECU that benefit from the reset. Great news, and thanks for posting bro

Re: Resetting the ECU

The Service Engine light blinks and then turned off, but for me it started flashing during first drive, I didn't take off the key out of the ignition maybe thats why it kept flashing.

Re: Resetting the ECU

I don't understand why you need to reset the ECU... 1st of all can't you drive with Manual shift when power is needed, 2nd how long does it take for the ecu to accept new driving styles. for instance, do I have to punch it really hard for 2 weeks before the ecu is loaded with new data...

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

50 different people post here saying they had success. Now since you couldnt succesfully perform the reset, it doesnt work? I guess we are all just imagining things.

Get real.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

Let me be the last to say that this definitly does work. You just
are not doing the process correctly. I have done it at least 5 times.
Lots of others on this board have done it as well. Reread the
instructions and try try again!

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

Yes, Easy Reset does work to reset the engine ECU but not the tranny ECU. My tranny ECU still takes a long time to shift. Hard Reset (disconnect battery) brought my tranny back to life. Shift much quicker now and more willing to shift even if the gas paddle is only partially depressed. I am going to hard reset it once a month on the 1st.. makes it easy to remember. Probably easy reset every 2 weeks..

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

I tried 5 times and it didn't work. Then I realized both my windows were down. After I closed my windows, it worked after the first try.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

I did it to my AT sedan right after installing my stillen intake, and it worked on the 3rd try. My driver's window was down too. It helped to use a watch with a second hand.

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

I did the ecu reset about a week ago and it took me almost ten tries to get it right. I'm a little skeptical if it really did anything to the 6mt. It feels a little faster... but I think it is just my imagination.

Ah who cares. All I have to do is flick that little nitrous swtich to ON and screw the ECU!!!!!!!!!

Re: EASY ECU RESETTING

ECU reset works on auto better as the manual cant be trained like the auto to granny after awhile. THe ecu reset is much nmore noticable on a 5at with mods. I have injen and 30 days between resets mean a large difference in sound and performance.
