I've got some small seepage from mine, great to know this will be cheaper than expected to remedy!

That's what she said......

If I get enough interest from people wanting pre modded covers sent to them I will do this install and run the car to verify function.

Have you checked the infiniti and nissan SUV engines? Too bad you have to mess with the taps and oil cap

Others have played that game Aaron, yup, and it turned out badly every single time. They're not the same for the most part.

Honestly the modifications that need to be done here are a joke, there's literally nothing at all to it. It's WAAAAYYYYYY less work than doing one of those hole-saw seal replacement jobs. And you could literally buy this 4 times over and still not be at the expense of a G35/350Z cover.

I agree on the hole saw, wonder why they were updated on this engine only???? Do you have a picture of the seal comparison?

2002/2003 maxima's suffered the same issue the g35 has. Seals harden and leak.
2004/2005 Maxima's do not suffer this problem.

The 2004/2005 valve cover has been the 'fix' for the 2002/2003 Maximas for many years now, it's not a new development, it's been shown over time that the 2005/2006 maxima version simply doesn't leak.
We can all thank the Maxima.Org guys for taking care of this for us. I'm just applying what they found out to this engine with a modification.

Obviously, the RWD VQ35DE one DOES leak.

That's about all the "proof" I can offer as to them being better. Also, There is absolutely no reason why a VC spark plug tube seal should be classed as "WEAR AND TEAR" unless you take off your valve covers on a regular basis, which is not normal.

As for the Price for a US valve cover, I'm not sure, you're probably right, I didn't check. I know that they cost $340+ EACH here in Canada. And that is with my discount applied. I'm sure they are about half that price for you guys in the states, but even at $150, that's over 4x as expensive as the Maxima covers that are proven to be a better design.

There's a lot. Here's one of the main ones.

I have never seen or heard of a 6th gen (A34) maxima having oil in the spark plug tube, and I've never heard of a 5th gen guy using an A34 cover who has complained about a leak since the swap.

This thread is honestly amazing, I've been needing to do this for a long time but held off because theyre so damn expensive. Can you please update when the engine is up and running and let us know if there are any issues? Doubt there would be but its nice to know for sure. thanks!
