AutoZone carries Optima. For most people, just save your money and get something for 60-70 bucks.

I left my lights on overnight and my car still started fine in the morning. Still running my OEM battery. And I barely drive the G so it doesn't get charged up daily by the alternator.

Yet it's holding it own so far.

the higher in store cost can be justified if you have warranty issues

you can walk in and have em swap it out

you can pack a box and pay $40 + hazardous cargo shipping for warranty issues

I have a yellow top and its the worst battery I've ever owned. I paid $165 from sams club and was replaced for free after 14 months. My car is not driven often but the battery will not hold a charge for long. If it goes out again after warranty up it will be replaced with a OEM battery.

Friend of mine had a red top in a mustang and had the same issues and ended up going with a standard battery.

I have a Platinum DieHard from Sears. Its a gel cell and comparable to the Yellow top from Optima. Its been awesome. Never had a single issue even through the cold of SLC and the heat of PHOENIX/VEGAS.

The price is definitely worth it especialy if you plan to upgrade electronics and do some modding to your car. It's a drycell battery which lasts way longer than conventional batteries and will stand up to any conditions momma nature can sling at you. I love mine since i'm an audio junkie, whatever gadget I can fit in my 2007 I will. In the meantime the red is good for your average driver the yellow is generally better for more extreme mods and systems that draw a lot of power. With the red even though most websites will say you need a bracket adapter I installed mine with no problem in about 20 minutes.
Definitely go Optima, your car will thank you, it's a high end car why go el cheapo on parts.

The original battery went bad in my '04 a couple weeks ago too. No warnings... one day I pull up to the gas station to fill up and once I'm filled up I turn and the engine won't turn over. This is after the summer was over. I would have figured it would have died in the summer and not the fall.

I too was interested in buying an Optima battery but as I needed something ASAP I didn't have the option. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't waste the extra money on the Optima. My girlfriend's dad picked me up and suggested that walmart was the closest place to get a battery. Normally I would never go to walmart but since he went out of his way to meet me and pick me up I didn't argue otherwise. I got the EverStart and once I return my Infiniti core it will have only cost me about $80. I was told that there is a 3 year warranty (no pro-rate) so I'm happy with that. I can't see how the Optima battery would be worth twice the price of this Walmart battery. I'm not so much hyping the walmart battery but moreso dehyping the Optima batteries. Save yourself $100 and don't buy something that you don't need.

I have a Red and a Yellow... I prefer the Yellow for my Mustang with a stereo. I use top post for the car, and the side post for the amp.

Red, top post only, is for the Tacoma. I got it brand new for $38 at Advance auto... Turns out if they sit on the shelf for 12 months they get discounted and sold as a used battery.

They cost more for seperate reasons

Red top - can be mounted sideways,up side down, which ever way you want.
they have a longer reserve time than regualr batteries and can take a lot of abuse such as a rock crawler, subs rocking your car, drops.

yellow top - any mounting, deep cycle and a starting battery, can take abuse

if you are just driving your car and have a decent audio set up a regular battery is fine.

I have two amps that pull a ton of current and I got a duralast. It has been working fine for a year

Wow, I can't believe some folks are getting 4-6 years out of their OEM battery! It must be a regional thing. Here in Central Texas, literally 3 years to the day and the last 3 batteries (all OEM in both my cars have failed) I did replace my G35 battery with the yellowtop. You can find them at Autozone and O'Riley's. It's a great battery, but I do believe it is slightly heavier than the OEM battery.

I don't know why anyone would have issues finding an Optima battery, PepBoys and Sears both sell them along with many auto parts stores in my neighborhood.
