do nissan dealers have to do TPMS reset for free?

just 2 days ago, my TPMS lights went on. i put air in them and the light was still on. i brought it to a local nissan dealer (there are no infiniti dealers around here) and they said it cost me $75. they said if i brought it to an infiniti dealer it would probably be free.

are nissan dealers obligated to reset my TPMS for free? the manager said the cars are the same but i cant do it there...

My light has been coming on since I bought the car, tire pressure is fine, but now the alarm chimes all the time for it, sometimes every 15 mintues, so annoying, the dealership said it would reset itself, but hasn't, do I need to replace the sensors?

i just read a thread over at infinitihelp that said you can try upping tire pressure to 40psi, and driving around for a little, then adjusting the pressure to where you normally have it (~35psi)

would be 75 cents compared to $50, worth a shot i guess

i've owned my 07 for about a month now. my pressure if fine all around. TPMS light came on after about a week of having it. about a week later it was just my luck it goes off almost at the exact time i was pulling into the dealership parking lot for my appointment to have them fix it.

few days ago, came on ago. have another appointment tomorrow for them to look at it and fix.

somehow i get the feeling this is a battle i'll be fighting for the next few years.

Not sure what a re-set would fix unless there is a problem with one (or more) of them.

TPMS is a horrible pain to deal with and is entirely too delicate, even from the Technicians side of it it's a huge PITA. I've done so many TPMS resets/calibrations that I'm going to remove TPMS from any vehicle I ever own, It's MUCH more of a pain than a benefit.

I think the reset is only necessary when one or more sensors are replaced. Also check the spare. I don't have a full size spare tire on the coupe, but those who do, is there a sensor on the spare? My Titan has a full size spare on a matching rim, but does not have the sensor.

Most Infiniti Dealers also charge to reset your sensors.

Is the TPMS reset covered under warranty?

I had mine on ever since I bought my 07 coupe last month (I didn't notice it during test drive...).

All 4 tires were around 30 PSI yesterday so I upped it a tad over 35 on all and it's still on even driving all day today.

I am over dealing with my TPMS, if I wanted to not use it, how do I go about getting the light/alarm to stop coming on? I check my psi enough, that it's just not worth the hassle anymore

I've had mine go off through the years when either it was hot (100F) and I was driving at least 50 miles on the highway, or on real cold days (under 10F). Even though the pressure was fine.

Last spring, it went off while driving across the Texas panhandle. Figured it was more of the same. Then, less than a minute later, heard a flapping noise. Tire had gone flat very fast, but car continued to handle fine. In retrospect, even though I assumed it was a false alarm, it brought my attention to the tire, meaning I noticed the flat a few seconds early.
