Seat belt stuck

For some reason my driver side seat belt is jammed. Has this happened to anyone before? I can't use it because it won't extend, it locks as if I was tugging on it really hard. Is there an easy way to release the seat belt, or do I need to go to the dealer? Thanks in advance for the advice.

This just happened to me this morning! Any suggestions or is this a stealership only fix?

Due to our laws and safety I'd run by the stealership to have it fixed. Most of us have the opposite issue, the retractors don't work well enough so the seat belt needs to be guided back when leaving the car....PIA!

I'll definitely swing by there this weekend and have it looked at. Since its a safety concern, they should repair it at no cost (or so you'd think) lol. Thanks Gary!

Laid the seat back and tugged on it and finally got it unstuck! Still gonna bring it into the dealer next week to be looked at though.

Also depends what state you are in. I know it is KS law that dealers have to repair any seat belt issues that arise in 10 years of production free of charge.

wow! sounds like some problems w/ the seatbelts. Very soon for those that don't want to pay full price i'll be selling mine one at a time. They are the tan colors. I am going to get the brand new ones in black. So, if you don't want to pay full price pm me and when it comes time i'll start sending them out. I might work on the back seat first. Or you guys can just rotate your back seats to the front (if that works)

Hope this law pertains to California as well. The seatbelts on my 06 are pretty flimsy that rarely lock when you tug at them.

In case this happens to anyone, you can get the seat belt to release by doing the following. I AM SIMPLY POSTING THIS UP FOR INFORMATION - PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Remove the panels to expose the seat belt tensioner.
Remove the tensioner...its usually just held in with a single 14mm bolt.
Remove the white cover on the side with the square corner. Make sure the tensioner is laying flat with the cover pointed up before you pop it off (there's a bearing behind it that might fall out).
Release the seat belt lock by pushing the plastic tab away from the catch and towards the bearing. The plastic tab is noted by the red arrow in the pix below. The red arrow also indicates the direction to push the tab. (As a side note, you can get the tab / catch to release without removing the cover by holding the tensioner at the right angle. Its just easier to see what's going on if you remove the cover.)
