In case this happens to anyone, you can get the seat belt to release by doing the following. I AM SIMPLY POSTING THIS UP FOR INFORMATION - PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Remove the panels to expose the seat belt tensioner.
Remove the tensioner...its usually just held in with a single 14mm bolt.
Remove the white cover on the side with the square corner. Make sure the tensioner is laying flat with the cover pointed up before you pop it off (there's a bearing behind it that might fall out).
Release the seat belt lock by pushing the plastic tab away from the catch and towards the bearing. The plastic tab is noted by the red arrow in the pix below. The red arrow also indicates the direction to push the tab. (As a side note, you can get the tab / catch to release without removing the cover by holding the tensioner at the right angle. Its just easier to see what's going on if you remove the cover.)
