G35 dreaming... wouldnt a mid engine be cool?

Mid engines, the driving feel of super cars. I just read how mid engine g35's could be made or converted to electric in the future.

Pictured here is a Chrysler concept... designed a decade before the G35.

It would be cool to make a conversion and also redesign the car as a modern G35.

This is a ZX mid concept I had thought up

I never even knew that there were downloadables haha. I built a G in solid works when I was bored at home with my work Lenovo. You would be amazed how little security is on work laptops.

And as for concepts, they always looks so good because DOT does not have any restrictions put on it.

I still cant make any 3D objects from scratch... I use existing panels and manipulate them into new designs.

You will never get one good looking design with this "technique" of yours. All you get is a mashup of two car designs that don't really match up too well (I see 4 tires on the sides of that car you're "designing" on that video). The only way to get a good clean design is to be able to draw it from scratch. Try using a pencil if you can't use 3d software. If you can't draw with a pencil and can use 3d software, then all you'll end up with is paper mache looking designs.

I sent a letter (old school communication) to GM and the Corvette engineers back in 1965 asking them to consider going mid engine, and they still haven't! The thought of going mid engine with a Vette has been throw around for years, still believe it would make for a better balanced car.

Draw it, chop it, then Build it, but what transaxle?

Okay so there aren't many people as crazy as I am, but I think I found a few on this thread.....I was just thinking about building a mid-engine G. The G35 is a good platform, plenty of room in the backseat for an engine, and a good handling chassis to begin with. It needs to be wider, and lower, and needs a different front end. All do-able. The big component that is missing is a transaxle. I checked out the Altima 3.5 v-6, but it is a CVT. CVTs are very horsepower particular, and I would like to see a 7 speed paddle shift dual clutch set up. I would also like to see it stay strictly Nissan and aftermarket. The Ford Taurus SHO has the ecoboost motor, twin turbo with 6-speed twin clutch in an all wheel drive/front wheel drive transaxle.....Nice, perfect,,,,but what chassis would you put it in? Mustang? No way. SO the search for a Nissan transaxle is on.......Also, mixing components in this computerized day and age would be a recipe for something that would never run. So, a widebody 350z front end on a G35 chassis that has been chopped 2 or 3" just above the floorboards, big air scoops on the sides, A twin turbo 3.7 liter,,,,but what tranny? partition behind the front seats,,,hinged back window. I think there would actually be a nice little storage space behind the front seats.

Isnt our car technically a mid-engine?? It says so right under the hood, "Midship".

In all honesty, I'm with you... I dont count it as midengine if its in front of me, but as long as its between the wheels, it technically is. I would love to drop a KERS module in the trunk/backseat though... C'mon Vettel, hook me up!!!

Honestly, widen it up a little, turbo it, some paddle shifters and I make a great car even better...Reality vs fantasy....

Good handling chassis? In what world?

I am trying to picture this frankenstein behemoth you are describing and I just see a $80k overweight bondo mess.
