Which Brand Coolant to use

I am going to be flushing my radiator and would like to know which brand coolant to use back in the radiator. I was looking at using Prestone extend life. Is this okay??

Getting the gallon from Nissan will set you back about $21 inc taxes. Not that bad to put the stuff the car came with back in.

Isn't it funny how we all suggest that you stick with the original Nissan fluid. How come this feeling doesn't apply for other fluids ie XSMN fluid, differential fluid? I guess we are selective of which stock fluids we trust

you will be fine with the prestone but if you ant you can use the oem coolant

I use prestone coolant and have no problem. I don't think it is required to use OEM coolant. The only fluid that is required (for warranty) to be OEM is the transmission fluid.

I have been using Motul for two years,great product. I can tell it works better than OEM coolant

The Prestone is fine to use. Just make sure you get ALL the old stuff out by doing a thorough flush (2-3 times) through the system with the heater on high (75 degrees) to flush the core. Then refill with distilled water to a 50-70% conc. of Prestone and you will be good for 60K miles.

When I had an Acura, I used OEM Honda coolant religiously and was thinking of doing the same with the G by using OEM Nissan coolant.

But when I called up my local Infiniti dealer, they said they use Pennzoil coolant in all the cars they service even though they sell the OEM coolant which is twice as much.

guys it doesn't matter, it's coolant FFS. Water+a little additive that doesn't allow water to freeze. My buddy works at a nissan dealership and they use prestone on all their cars. The dealer will use the coolant from the company who gives them best deal, and they'll say to use that. It has nothing to do with the brand of coolant, all of them are pretty much the same. You'll be fine with any coolant brand. I've heard the best mix is 70% coolant, 30% water.

I'm upgrading to the Amsoil coolant at 60k miles (that's when the initial cooling system service is due, or 4 years). The amsoil coolant must be mixed with distilled water and the color of the coolant is yellow.

The factory service manual specifies an initial cooling system service at 60k followed by servicing every 30k after. The oem nissan coolant sold at the dealer is only recommended for 30k (according to the parts guys I've spoken with), so I believe this coolant is a great alternative. It also provides a 7-year / 250k service life, is non-toxic, and contains a great additive package. However, I will just stick to 60k / 4 year flushes instead of the 7-year / 250k spec.
