Fuse out? Interior Dome lights 2006 G35 Sedan

I've just purchased an 06 G35 and love the car but before taking it back and complaining about the dome lights not working I'm just wondering if it can only be a fuse that is out. The passenger worked the first day i bought the car and i thought it was just that one bulb that was out. 2 days later the driver side stopped working. It would be nice to have them working at night when opening the doors. Any help is appreciated. I just joined this site and pics will be up soon.

Be sure the switch is in position 1. Several fuses involved, see pics 2 and 3...

You may have solved this already but here are a couple more things to help you figure it out ...
First of all, if you just press on the plastic lenses of the lamps above the rear view mirror, they should come on. That's "map light" mode and would quickly tell you if bulbs are working and powered.

Second, as you open the driver's door (or unlock the car by pressing the exterior door button) all the interior lights should come on, depending on where the switches are on the upper lights. The "step lamps" in the bottoms of the doors and the ring around the ignition key should light regardless.

The small lamps above the rear doors also have switches which make them active or not. See pic 1 below - it's the same fixture for each side but they're flipped so the switches work in reverse...

Should you discover that your "map light" bulb is burned out then pic 2 shows how to get to it.

If you have no step lamps or ignition ring then you need to start looking at fuses.

Good luck.

If you find that nothing is "wrong" with the fuses or settings, you might have problem with your BCM (body control module). This is an expensive repair that a mechanic with a reprogramming device has to do, so I hope that isn't what's wrong with your G!

Does the fuse layout apply to a 2005 G35X? I have the same issue with my dome lights?

The pics are from an '06 service manual but I believe '05 / '06 are the same except for very small variations (bluetooth phone link came in '06)

My second post above says which interior lights should come when you unlock the door, how to manually turn on the map lights, etc. What exactly isn't working for you?

The lights above the rear view are not working. The rear cabin lights turn on. I've tried replacing the lights above the rear view, but it still doesn't work.

Weird. Here are pics of 2 parts of the schematic. The BCM is on the right in the first and left in the second.

+12 comes from pin 41 to the entire circuit so if ANY of theses lights are working then you have +. Ground is what gets switched.

When you press the plastic lens on your upper lights "map light" style, you are simply connecting to a direct ground and they should light. Since your rear cabin lights work, and If your upper bulbs are good but don't work even in map light mode, then you have either lost the +12 or the ground side to that fixture. With a voltmeter you could check pretty easily: +12 should already be there and the "direct ground" should be available at one of the switch terminals.

The fade-in and fade-out type of power comes from the BCM so that's another can of worms...

Let us know what you figure out.
