OEM hood weight and CF hood weight seibon/TS

Anyone know these weights? I've heard people speculate the CF hood being twice as light but did anyone actually measure their stock hood and CF hood when upgrading to a CF hood? Tried searching but couldn't find exact weights anywhere. If anyone has this information I would greatly appreciate it, since it will affect my decision on whether or not to get a CF hood, thanks.

Twice as light? I've never once heard that.

If you're looking to save weight with a c/f hood, then I would not say this is a justifiable mod since the weight saving isn't that much.

Well you've heard klumzyee say 3x/4x right?

This is why I was wondering if anyone had exact weights, because then I would know for sure the difference. It's hard to tell how much something weighs by lifting it off a hinge, so solid numbers would clear it up for me

I think if you really want to lighten up your car to reduce 1/4 mile times you should remove all your seats except the drivers seat of course. Also remove the panels in the trunk and the spare tire and that should free up a significant amount of weight...possibly over 200lbs.

Getting a carbon fiber hood is mostly for cosmetic

Wow, maybe it's grammatically incorrect but I think you get the fvcking gist of what I am trying to say by twice as light. And did you or did you not hear hear klumzyee say that. If he said 3x/4x heavier then I'm sure 2x is not far-fetched.

Eh.. that's a bit dramatic for me, there's no way in hell I'm going to take out all the seats lol. If I were to even consider that I'd rather just get a Z.. But yeah, taking out the spare tire is a good idea, I'm probably going to do that.

seibon on the g37 only saves like 3-4 lbs on the hood and like 5-7 on the trunk. so if your tryikng to save weight, like the others siad, remove the seats in favor of light weight racing seats and any extra panels.

the wieght difference isnt all that great. the stock hood is still light, nontheless. if you really want to go to the extreme, race on 1/4 tank of gas... remove, power steering and A/C, your carpet and panels, seats, spare tire, glass window replace with plexi...

Yep, Seibon hoods are wet hand laid carbon so weight savings is minimal. Look for a vacuum bagged carbon or pre-peg dry carbon if your serious about weight savings...but it comes with a HEAVY price tag
