Talking Tire Review: Yokohama YK520 (215/55/17)

my car: 2003 G35 Sedan, NO sports suspension, auto, everything STOCK.

Tire Specs:
Model: Yokohama YK520, High Performance, All-Season
Size: 215/55/17 (OEM/Factory Size)
Mileage Warranty: 60,000 miles
Treadwear: 520
Traction: A
Temperature: A
Speed Rating: VR
Price: $132 for America's Best Tire, Discount Tires, tires.com (ONLY, EXCLUSIVE)
Miles Driven: 10,000 miles

Review: I replaced the OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL42 after 50k miles. I probably had about 5k~10k miles left in it, but the noise for the past 10k miles was unbearable. They were decent tires except for the noise and one of my rear tire kept on losing air (no holes, always stayed around 25 psi ). I went to America's Tire and got a set of these YK520's.

First of all, I don't drive crazy all over the place. Second, I don't believe in getting Michelin Pilot Sport unless you do decent amount of spirited driving. Ok, first impression, MUCH MORE quiet, but this is compared to my old EL42's which I am assuming were all out of wack due to age. Second, my ride was much firmer, which I wanted very much. The Yoko's have a threadwear rating of 520, so I assume it has a harder compound. The Yoko's don't make squeaking noises when I am making a new turn. The EL42's did. Wet Traction, ok I guess. I tend to drive slow in the rain, and I haven't hydroplaned so I guess it's good! Snow, no experience. With a mileage warranty of 60,000, I expect it to last that long. I haven't pushed the tires to its limits, so I dont know the performance aspect of it yet.. but all in all.. it's a good cruising tire.. it also has a rim protector, so it looks nicer/wider

Very nice. We put a set of 225/50/17's on the GF's Mazda3 and I have been happy with them.

I have a 2003 Sedan and am thinking of the Yoko YK520 from Discount tire direct. Good review everywhere. (520 A A)

I have been a fan of Yoko since I got a set of 4 for my wife's SUV Toyota Highlander (from discount tire of coarse).

I just put 245/45-18s on the rear, fronts will come in 6 months or so. Only been a few miles, but I like them well enough. Not as sweet looking as Toyos or Falkens, but side-to-side rotation is good.

Just so everyone knows, even Discount won't warranty the 60k mileage on staggered fitments. I've had them stretch the rules, but this time they said no.
