Rays vs. Muteki Lugnuts (pics & weights)

I've been running Ray's short duraluminum lugnuts for quite awhile now. Just got in a brand new set of Muteki neo-chro open ended lugnuts.

The front disk of most wheels for Z's/G's are larger (thicker) than the rear, to accommodate BBK's. This causes equal length lugnuts to be flush or sunken-in on front wheels, and stick out alot on rear wheels. Look at the pics, and you'll see what I mean.

To even it out, I'm running a mixed setup of SR48 and SR35 lugnuts. The longer 48mm lugs are up front, and the shorter 35mm lugs are out back.

Threw the lugs on a postal scale, so it should be fairly accurate.

Ray's short is around 0.8 oz.

Thanks. The Mutekis made of chrome vanadium 28CRVM. The body of Project KICS is made of cold-forged SCM-435 and the rotating taper-seat is made of A7075-T6 aluminum. (whatever that means)

Why would you have a postal scale with a needle? It's all about the digital scales!

I'll take the added weight for ease of use, I've seen people destroy volk lugs with air tools and of course I know you're not supposed to but I'll take the added weight/strength to be able to, not to mention the saved cost

It's just heavier b/c of the type of metal. It's not the weight that gives it added strength, it's the material itself.

nice write up.. I chose the blue rays over the kics neo chros due to the fact that, well personally?.. I think the neo chro's would be too "rainbowie" for my car. plus the bbk i'm "hoping to get soon" will be in blue

I have the Ray's light weight lugs..., but I'm considering to get the NISMO steel type for its durability.
