Nitto NT555 - POS in rain!!!

Its been raining here for a couple days now and I was Driving the G in the rain, my first time with the NT555 and man what a POS tire. I was sliding all over the place and I felt at time I had no control at all. I felt like I was floating, like driving on ice. The car felt wobbly and at times it felt like the rear was going to give out. My buddy in the car was gripping for life. These tires have no grip whatsoever. I had to slow down and drive extremely slow, like I was driving in snow or something. I used to have the PS2 on my OEM tires and those were awesome tires, but now that I have the 20's I got the NT555, man what crappy tires. Any one else have similar experiences?

I did do the research but they came with a wheel and tire package. My 2 choices were Falken or these. The Nitto NT555 seemed the better of the 2. Most people I read on discount tire stated it works well in the rain, however not in my experience.

seems like you might need to put the vdc back on and stop driving aggressive in the rain, I have had all kinds of nitto's and they are very good in all conditions, under normal driving conditions. If you are pushing your car on a wet road then that might not be the case.

That's the thing the VDC is on and I'm driving normal, not aggressive at all. The car feels wobbly, its weird. I have had Nitto's in the past before and never had any problems, but then again they were FWD.

I agree with the OP.

I had a set of 555's, 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 with about 40% left on them. When ever I drove in the rain my car was all over the place.

you're not the only one. when it rains i have to drive slower or the same thing will happen to me. it will just get worse with tire wear.

Brand new. I just got them in July and I had the car aligned with the SPC kit.

that is strange to me I have had the 555 and the neo gens on this car and I do prefer the neo gens due to the added hard compound and camber that I run but never an issue with water deflection or traction

Wow, I've never had a problem with the NT555. That's strange that it would happen when your tires are new. I do prefer Falkens over Nitto though, but of course you can't compare either one to the Michelin PS2.

Can we fit the PS2? I know we can do 285/30/20 for the rear but what about the front?

Nitto 555 is the worst tire ever. Do a search and you'll see tons of people sharing the same opinion.
