Unhappy Is there ANYTHING than can be done about this? Nail near sidewall, again.

I have been extremely unlucky with my latest set of tires. I barely got these tires a few months ago and have had a few mishaps already.

First, I got a nail straight through the middle of the sidewall of my Hankook Ventus V12 275/35/19 after about 2 months of the initial purchase. Bought a new tire since it destroyed the sidewall.

Now, I recently noticed 2 nails on my front passenger tire

One of them seems to be far enough to patch, whereas the other is just above the sidewall. Based on most recommendations, you need to be a certain distance from the sidewall to be able to patch or plug.

Pictures, shown at the end of this post, shows 2 nails within a very close range to the sidewall. I don't seem to be losing any pressure after a little over a day since I noticed it.

Though I'm pretty sure what the answer is, is there anything I can safely do about this without having to buy another tire? It's just extremely frustrating to have to throw away a second tire that is virtually brand new.

Haha, don't mind the dirtiness. It's been raining quiet a bit in SoCal lately and have not maintained the car at all.

if they both punctured, then the tire is no good. If only one went through (hope it wasnt the one on the sidewall) then you can get it fixed. If the one on the sidewall went through, it'll be tough to find a place that will actually fix it, and fix it right. I work for Discount/Americas tire and it is against our policy to fix a tire with a nail in the edge of the tread like that or to fix 2 punctures within 90 Degrees of the tire.

I have personally patch/plugged holes as close as the one you have and it takes some skill and effort to do it right and not have the tire leak or the patch fall off when mounting it. You just have to find the right person that is capable of doing such a repair and they are far and few.

Grant,

What would your advise be if I decide to try to repair it? Patch or plug? Can a combination of both be possible (and better)?

That sucks man. I had a nail right above the sidewall with my pole positions like yours after 1 month of purchase, I got many reccomendations and all of them told me to get new tires. Basically they told me since the tire disperse heat to the sidewall the patch will not hold.
